'In The Dark (A Tale of Love)' ft Michelle Lockey

One of the very first musicians I started to collaborate with was the wonderful Michelle Lockey, from Maryland, USA.  We met in an online songwriting and recording group which originated from a group of Taxi members/friends.
A few months ago the weekly theme was 'Creepy Lurker', which created some very unusual songs !  It was for this theme that I wrote the lyrics for 'In The Dark (A Tale of Love)'.  Michelle picked them up and created the amazingly creepy melody that suits the words so well.  Her voice drips of ghost stories in the dark and horror movies where you hide behind a cushion!  Perfect.
We are aiming the song at the film/tv market.  I have visions of a rapist stalking his victim, talking to her in his head and creating a (false) romantic relationship in his mind.  The stuff nightmares are made of...

In The Dark (A Tale of Love)
LYRICS
Verse 1
I'm the shadow you catch in the corners of your mind,
and you think its the wind that brushes you by.
Your head starts to pound and the pain stops your heart.
When you see… me… watching you…. in the dark.
Chorus
Should I tell you a tale that brings out your tears,
or do you want a love song you can sing through the years?
of chains and ropes that bind up your heart
While I take you silently… ….in the dark
Verse 2
For you I have a sweet silent surprise
It lies in the dark where its not easy to hide
Don’t listen to me, I’m the scream in your head
but ‘fore to long its me……..you’ll want in your bed
Chorus
Should I tell you a tale that brings out your tears,
or do you want a love song you can sing through the years?
of chains and ropes that bind up your heart
While I take you silently… ….in the dark
Bridge (instrumental)
